The Illinois Institute of Technology has a wealth of information available online including an extensive Mies bibliography in its library catalog. Click here to access.
The Museum of Modern Art has an archive with more than 20,000 sketches, presentation drawings, working drawings, blueprints, architectural models and furniture designs by Mies and his associate Lilly Reich. It also contains nearly 60 years of business correspondence. (Mies’s personal correspondence is in the Library of Congress).
The Art Institute of Chicago has two Mies archives.
The Ludwig Mies van der Rohe Collection (1929 – 1969, bulk 1948 – 1960) contains materials from Mies’s days at the Armour Institute of Technology. The collection “includes correspondence with students, colleagues and visiting faculty, publicity material, newspaper and periodical articles, curriculum documents, and faculty memoranda.” Click here to access information about this collection.
