Design, Construction and Restoration

“Across the U.S. from New York to Texas, a stern but stunning new architecture has begun to tower on city horizons. Boldly rectangular, with skeletons of steel sheathed in glass, it is the inspiration and accomplishment of one of the great architects of the 20th century, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe….Mies is bursting into spectacular view. In Chicago he has built two tall apartment houses…whose steep piers, exposed at the base around a recessed lobby, give the building an effect of being on stilts.”
